It’s personal. Associates develop special support system and impact community together.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia, November 20, 2018 –The Child Life program is particularly close to this RE/MAX team, where actions show that they treat and support each other as family.

To honor their colleague and friend’s personal experience, the Steve Doll Team, or Team Norah as they call themselves, came out to take part in the 2nd annual local non-profit Kennedy’s Angel Gowns 5K Run/Walk, held on October 14th this year. Dressed in matching purple t-shirts with Baby Norah’s footprints, this team of 26 strong included past and present associates along with family and friends, all coming together to show their love and support of not only Susan and Ed McLean, but ALL the families and friends touched by similar tragedies. This event honors Angel Babies gone too soon while raising awareness for pregnancy, infant loss, and infertility. Everything was planned out, including symbolically starting at 10:15 AM, recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day on 10/15.

Team Leader, and The Steve Doll Team Office Manager, Susan McLean shared “This is the 2nd year we have participated in the Angel 5K, it is a great way to celebrate the memory of our Angel Baby as well as support a great cause, giving assistance to families going through similar situations.” When asked to share about how her office got so involved, she explained, “I feel so blessed to work everyday with teammates who I also consider as good friends.  We are always there to support each other both professionally and personally.” Now that’s the epitome of teamwork.

“It was a priority for all of us to be there.” As team member and colleague Ann Raymond described, “Members from The Steve Doll Team, both past and present, came out to show our support and love for our friends, Susan and Ed. We all wore our purple t-shirts with a photo of Norah’s footprints. It was a beautiful and moving sight to see so many purple t-shirts and beyond that, a sea of faces there to support and walk for loved ones.” Even those who were not previously familiar with the organization’s cause and goals came out in force to show their support for their loved ones.

Although this organization’s initial concept began by repurposing wedding gowns into beautiful burial gowns, vests, and ties for little ones, their primary focus this year is to expand their services by raising funds to purchase and donate “Cuddle Cot” devices from England to Sentara Hospitals in Hampton Roads. “Cuddle Cots” give the ‘gift of time’ so grieving parents can spend more time with their stillborn children. This new organization starting in just 2016 has already had great success, supplying Hampton Roads’ first two Cuddle Cots to Sentara. They accept wedding gown donations and would love to hear from you regarding other volunteer opportunities, including their group sew days and their annual gala.

This RE/MAX office truly proves that they are actively engaged and remain consistent with their stated mission “To be the Hampton Roads real estate leader, achieving our goals by helping others achieve theirs. Everybody wins.” The agents and staff at this office actively support 24+ causes and have deep connections in the local community. Joining a team or an office can be a fulfilling lifestyle where you are involved and support the community- this is just one successful example of that.

As Susan thought about future events with this organization, “I have a feeling we will all be participating for years to come.”

4 Reasons To Buy A Home This Winter!

Here are four great reasons to consider buying a home in Hampton Roads today instead of waiting.

1. Prices Will Continue to Rise

CoreLogic’s latest Home Price Insight report revealed that home prices have appreciated by 5.6% over the last 12 months. The same report predicts that prices will continue to increase at a rate of 4.7% over the next year.

The bottom in home prices has come and gone. Home values will continue to appreciate for years. Waiting no longer makes sense.

2. Mortgage Interest Rates Are Projected to Increase

Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey shows that interest rates for a 30-year mortgage have hovered around 4.8%. Most experts predict that rates will rise over the next 12 months. The Mortgage Bankers Association, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the National Association of Realtors are in unison, projecting that rates will increase in 2019.

An increase in rates will impact YOUR monthly mortgage payment. A year from now, your housing expense will increase if a mortgage is necessary to buy your next home.

3. Either Way, You are Paying a Mortgage

There are some renters who have not yet purchased homes because they are uncomfortable taking on the obligation of a mortgage. Everyone should realize that unless you are living with your parents rent-free, you are paying a mortgage – either yours or your landlord’s.

As an owner, your mortgage payment is a form of ‘forced savings’ that allows you to build equity in your home that you can tap into later in life. As a renter, you guarantee your landlord is the person building that equity.

Are you ready to put your housing cost to work for you?

4. It’s Time to Move on With Your Life

The ‘cost’ of a home is determined by two major components: the price of the home and the current mortgage rate. It appears that both are on the rise.

But what if they weren’t? Would you wait?

Look at the actual reason you are buying and decide if it is worth waiting. Whether you want to have a great place for your children to grow up, you want your family to be safer, or you just want to have control over renovations, maybe now is the time to buy.
